Risk, Reputation and Crisis Management
Who We Are and What We Do
RSHC lawyers, who include former executives and general counsel of global public companies, believe that the best lawsuit is the one that doesn’t happen. With deep experience in the C-Suite and the Boardroom, we are adept at creating practical solutions to complex problems involving multiple constituencies. Our practice includes:
Enterprise Risk Management
We have created board and company ERM policies and processes that ensure public company directors are fulfilling their duty to the shareholders. Equally important, our processes help management do more than just “check the box” on ERM; we are experienced at creating meaningful, streamlined, high impact processes that bring to light previously unidentified risks and mitigate them. We have worked with boards, executive teams and auditors to ensure that the company’s processes are robust yet user-friendly.
C-Suite Problem Solving
Unlike most litigation practices, our lawyers have experience working with clients to create practical solutions to complex problems and, in many instances, avoid litigation altogether. We know clients care about legal matters primarily as business matters. Our lawyers include savvy, business-oriented, former executives whom CEOs, General Counsel, CFOs, and CHROs call for business-oriented critical analysis and results-oriented approaches.
RSHC is unique among law firms in that we recognize that legal liability is typically only one of many concerns our clients face when a problem is brewing. In particular, those of us who have been General Counsel know that the board, the shareholders, the customers, the employees and the sales force, among others, all have to be considered along with potential lawsuits. We live in a world where there is no such thing as a purely internal communication, and we are accustomed to crafting solutions and communications that keep all these factors in balance.
When the worst happens, our clients want someone who has been there. RSHC includes recognized experts in crisis management. We know that lawsuits are not the only – or even the primary – thing our clients have to manage when a crisis has occurred. We are experienced in dealing with the full range of constituencies our clients have to satisfy at these times, including the board, shareholders, the press, customers, auditors, vendors, analysts, employees, regulators, elected officials and competitors, to name a few.
We have experience running Corporate Communications functions and working with PR and Crisis Communication firms. We cherish the compliment that we are the lawyers who crisis management consultants don’t hate because – unlike most litigators -- we recognize that potential plaintiffs can’t be our clients’ only focus. In addition, our lawyers have worked at all levels of government, managing Justice Department investigations and regulatory enforcement proceedings as well as navigating Congressional investigations and hearings.
We have deep experience coordinating both internal and external resources to present the most effective, united front in the face of high-stakes, rapidly changing, ambiguous business problems.
We deliver value to our clients and align our pricing mechanism with our clients’ business needs and expectations. Our partners become fully invested in each matter because effective advocacy is a hands-on venture and we believe that lean litigation teams can deliver great results in a much more cost-effective way.
